libmpd-dev software package provides High-level client library for accessing Music Player Daemon, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libmpd-dev
libmpd-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libmpd-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libmpd-dev *
You will get with libmpd-dev package name, version, architecture and description in a table
